This plate has built in UHMPE or thermoplastic fiber sheets to control ceramic dust/shards that can occur, especially in a multi-hit situation. Our UHMWPE backers are heated, and compression moulded. Our backing material is not made from loose plies or superficially heated material. It is dense and it's solid. We do not use heavy E-glass backing and monolithic ceramic plates which are very heavy.

Our UHMWPE backing is light, but very strong. We use 99%+ pure alumina ceramic for increased hardness and performance. Some other US sellers/manufacturers use 90% Alumina monolithic plates. We vacuum bag our products and apply American-made industrial adhesives between our ceramic tiles in order to bond them for increased multi-hit resistance. Superior mosaic ceramic configuration (as opposed to monolithic) allows for multi-hits without performance deterioration of surrounding ceramics.
