This model is listed on the NIJ Compliant list of body armor. Entire package weighs just 6lbs total, yet is certified to protect against 6 shots of 7.62x51 NATO. 308 Win ammunition at 2780fps.

This armor is so light, it floats in the water. UHMWPE absorbs the entire round and mitigates splatter, spall and fragmentation. Less than 1/3 the weight of steel Lev 3 armor - can be worn comfortably ALL DAY. Won't sink in water - safer than steel in marine environments, while hunting near water, etc.
