AR600 Plate for Targets, Bullet Traps, and Much More, Harder than AR500 & AR550

  
Hardness on these plates will vary from approx 550 to 600 Brinell. The Flash Team, just like steel mills, uses the same feedstock to produce both AR600 and US Army MIL DTL 32332A Ultra Hard 600 Armor plate on the same production line yet only the Ultra Hard 600 is ballistically certified. Bending to less than 8(r/t) has been demonstrated in both rolling and transverse directions. Overbending to >110 degrees leads to 90 degree final bends in 2 wide samples (see photo). Other AR600 plates often only bend to 10 to 12 (r/t) to only 30 to 45 degrees.

Welding at room temperature has been performed with MIG and TIG with standard skillset. Heat affected zones have been hardness mapped and are less brittle than weldments of other AR500 and AR600 plates.

On a pound for pound basis. Flash Ultra Hard 600 plate outperforms, titanium, aluminum, and steel armors against 0.30-cal M2 armor piercing rounds (0 and 30 degree obliquity), 20mm FSP, and many other rounds. Third party test results available at an areal density of 10.6psf (0.261). US Army certified 0.261 thick Flash Ultra Hard Armor can stop penetration by. 0.30-cal M2AP at 0 degree obliquity with a V50 of >2200fps, no shatter gap detected, all AP cores shattered.

NOTE: AR500 only stops this shot to a V50 of approx 1600fps. M80 ball at 0 degree obliquity with a V50 of 3049fps (300fps over muzzle velocity) making this far superior to NIJ 3 Plus.

M855 62gr SS109 Green Tip at muzzle velocity. M193 55gr at muzzle velocity up to a 20 barrel, V50s in excess of 3150fps. AK-47 AP at muzzle velocity. With verified credentials, FOUO data is available which will show that Flash Ultra Hard 600 is the highest performing, readily weldable, most bendable, and cost effective metal known to fabricate a protective structure.
